Hamby Beams Voyagers in First Pro Win
Kalispell, MT. – The Glacier Range Riders (11-13) sped through a crucial divisional win Tuesday night, coming out on top of a pitcher's duel against the Great Falls Voyagers (15-10) by a score of 2-0. Rob Hamby, in only his second career professional start, absolutely locked down the Voyager bats, allowing just two hits, and striking out eight in six innings of work.
Danger did come early against the Riders, however, as a walk and a single eventually put runners on second and third with just one away. Hamby utilized his clutch gene to deal with the situation, nailing two straight Voyager bats with strikeouts to end the inning. He would allow just two baserunners in the rest of his outing, one on an infield single and the other on an error.
However, the Range Riders needed at least one run to capitalize on Hamby's career day, and both of the runs they ended up getting came in the bottom of the second when Dean Miller led off the inning. Miller earned a walk to start, while Brody Wofford pelted a double into the left-center gap that put runners on second and third with nobody out. A passed ball got Miller home before Livingston Morris got Wofford across the plate with an RBI groundout to make it 2-0.
Once Hamby left, it took a trio of Glacier relievers to keep the goose egg on the board. First, Logan Walters made his professional debut and had a single erased from an Austin McNicholas to Ryan Cash to Wofford double play. Then after allowing a lead off hit, Tanner Solomon induced two fly outs and got a strikeout to strand the runner at first, before Justin Coleman got a 1-2-3 ninth for his first professional save.
The Range Riders are back in action again tomorrow night, as they take on the Voyagers at 7:05 PM at Flathead Field. Tickets still available at: https://ridgerunbaseball.ticketsocket.com/#/event-list
