Mabry’s Ninth-Inning Double Completes Stunning Range Riders Comeback
KALISPELL, Mont. — The Glacier Range Riders pulled off one of their most dramatic wins of the season Thursday night at Glacier Bank Park, erasing a seven-run deficit to stun the Billings Mustangs, 8-7, on JT Mabry's walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth.
Down 7-6 with two outs and two runners aboard, Mabry ripped an 0-2 pitch into the gap, bringing home the tying and winning runs and sending the home crowd into a frenzy. The clutch hit capped a five-run ninth inning and an improbable rally after Glacier trailed 7-0 in the third inning.
Billings appeared to be in full control early, striking for six runs in the first inning. A fielder's choice, RBI single from Briley Knight, three-run double by Chase Hanson, and an error gave the Mustangs a commanding lead. AJ Shaver's sacrifice fly in the third made it 7-0.
The Range Riders began chipping away in the bottom half of the third. Mabry's RBI single got Glacier on the board before Eli Paton launched a two-run homer to right, cutting the deficit to 7-3. From there, the bullpen kept the Mustangs quiet, with Jacob Hasty and Davis Pratt combining for three scoreless innings before Rayne Supple worked a perfect ninth to earn the win.
Mabry finished the night 2-for-5 with three RBIs, while TJ Clarkson drew a pair of walks to help pace a patient Glacier offense that worked seven free passes. Hanson led Billings with three RBIs, while Knight, Patrick Mills, and John McHenry each had two hits.
The win not only gave the Range Riders a memorable walk-off but also showcased their resilience, proving no lead is safe at Glacier Bank Park.
