Range Riders Slide Past Voyagers for Best Start in Franchise History
GREAT FALLS, Mont.- The Glacier Range Riders are off to their best start in franchise history. Powered by a four-RBI night from Jake Millan, Glacier improved to 2-0 for the first time ever with a 13-9 victory over the Great Falls Voyagers on Wednesday night at Voyagers Stadium.
Millan drove in four runs on two hits, highlighted by a three-run homer to left field in the seventh inning that helped break the game open. He later added an RBI single in the eighth to cap off another huge offensive night for the Range Riders.
In a game where both offenses found plenty of success, Glacier collected 12 hits while also showing tremendous patience at the plate with 18 walks. This was the second straight game in which the Range Riders set a single game franchise record for walks after recording 13 last night.
Great Falls struck first in the opening inning after Trey Cruz singled home a run and Assaf Lowengart scored on a caught stealing at second base to make it 2-0 Voyagers.
The Range Riders chipped away before taking the lead for good in the fifth inning. Donovan Ratfield delivered the go-ahead double to put Glacier in front 3-2. Glacier added separation in the seventh when Millan launched his three-run blast over the left field wall as part of a big inning for the visitors. Logan Beard added insurance in the ninth with a solo homer to left field for his first long ball of the season.
The Range Riders bullpen played a major role in securing the win. Zach Longshore was dominant in relief, tossing five innings while allowing just two hits and two runs, striking out seven and walking three to earn his first career victory, on his birthday nonetheless. Starter Will Maynard allowed two runs over two innings with a pair of strikeouts.
Ratfield, Beard, Millan, and Jacob Steele each recorded two-hit games for Glacier. Carson Garner reached base consistently throughout the night, drawing five walks, equalizing the franchise record for walks set Tuesday night by Millan.
The Range Riders will go for the sweep over the Voyagers on Thursday night. First pitch is set for 6:30 PM, stream or listen to all games in the GoRangeRiders app, or watch the game live on the Glacier Range Riders YouTube channel.
