Glacier Falls in Weather Shortened Game
FLATHEAD VALLEY, Mont. - The Glacier Range Riders fell to the Great Falls Voyagers 10-3 on Thursday night at Glacier Bank Park in a game heavily impacted by weather.
First pitch was delayed by more than an hour due to lightning and hail in the Flathead Valley, and additional lightning in the area forced the game to be called final after seven innings.
Great Falls jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. Ethan Ott lined a two-run single down the left field line before Trey Cruz followed with a two-run home run to left.
The Voyagers added two more runs in the third inning when Tommy Specht tripled down the right field line and Cruz later brought home another run with a sacrifice fly.
The Range Riders got on the board in the fourth inning when Jake Millan launched a two-run homer to right field, cutting the deficit to 6-2. Glacier added another run later in the game, but Great Falls continued to pull away before weather ultimately ended the contest after seven innings.
Sam Lavin earned the win for the Voyagers, allowing three runs on five hits over six innings while striking out 12. Evan Langston took the loss for Glacier after surrendering seven runs on eight hits across 3.2 innings.
Millan drove in two of Glacier's three runs and finished 1-for-4 at the plate. Carson Garner, Logan Beard, JD McLaughlin, Carson Hornung, Tommy Rover, and Millan each recorded a hit for the Range Riders, who played error-free defense.
Great Falls collected 11 hits in the victory. Cruz led the offensive attack with three RBIs, while Will Rogers paced the Voyagers with a 3-for-4 performance. Specht and Ott each added multiple hits as Great Falls also swiped four bases.
With the game officially ending after seven innings due to continued lightning, the Voyagers handed the Range Riders their first loss of the homestand.
