Voyagers Outlast Range Riders on Saturday Night
FLATHEAD VALLEY, Mont. - The Glacier Range Riders dropped an 11-6 decision to the Great Falls Voyagers on Saturday night at Glacier Bank Park.
Great Falls struck first in the opening inning when Tommy Specht delivered an RBI single, but the Range Riders answered in the second. Donovan Ratfield launched a solo home run to left field before JD McLaughlin lined an RBI single down the left field line to give Glacier a 2-1 advantage.
The game turned in the fourth inning when the Voyagers erupted for five runs on four hits to take control. Anthony Manisero delivered the biggest hit of the frame, ripping a two-out double on an 0-2 pitch that plated three runs and helped Great Falls move in front 6-2.
Glacier battled throughout the night, collecting 11 hits and drawing nine walks, but could not overcome the deficit.
Kyle Ashworth paced the offense with a three-hit performance, going 3-for-4 from the ninth spot in the lineup. Ratfield finished 2-for-3 with a home run, while McLaughlin added two stolen bases. Tommy Rover drove in two runs for the Range Riders.
Jonah Giblin was charged with the loss after allowing six runs on eight hits over four innings while striking out five. Great Falls reliever Landon Smiddy earned the win, tossing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Voyagers starter Chris Peguero allowed five runs, three earned, across four innings.
Glacier and Great Falls clash for the final time at Glacier Bank Park (still six more contests between the two in Great Falls) on Sunday. The Range Riders go for the series win with first pitch coming at 1:05 PM.
