Range Riders Slide by Voyagers for Sunday Win to Take the Series
FLATHEAD VALLEY, Mont. - The Glacier Range Riders moved to 9-3 on the season with a 9-7 victory over the Great Falls Voyagers on Sunday afternoon at Glacier Bank Park, matching the best 12-game start in franchise history set by the 2023 and 2024 clubs.
Glacier jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Jake Millan flared a single that brought home two runs. The Range Riders added another run in the third inning as Carson Hornung doubled to extend the advantage to 3-1.
Great Falls chipped away with solo home runs from Vincent Temesvary in the third inning and Antonio Barranca in the fourth, but the Range Riders continued to build their lead throughout the middle innings and carried a five-run advantage into the late innings before holding off a Voyagers comeback attempt.
Zach Longshore earned the win for Glacier after allowing just two runs on six hits over five innings, moving to 3-0 in his professional career. The left-hander struck out four and walked one. Alex Bustamante provided valuable relief work, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings while allowing no hits and striking out one. Jack Maruskin recorded a two-out save to close out the victory.
At the plate, Carson Garner and Millan each drove in two runs for the Range Riders. Millan also reached base multiple times, drawing two walks as part of another patient Glacier offensive effort that produced six free passes. Defensively, the Range Riders turned two crucial double plays.
With the win, the Range Riders improve to 9-3, tying the best 12-game start in franchise history, matching the marks set by the 2023 and 2024 teams. Glacier will now host the defending Pioneer Baseball League champion Oakland Ballers for a three-game series beginning Tuesday night at Glacier Bank Park. First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
