KALISPELL, Mont. - The Glacier Range Riders saw a four-run lead slip away Friday night, as the Missoula PaddleHeads scored five runs in the eighth inning and pulled away for a 9-5 victory at Glacier Bank Park.
Missoula opened the scoring in the first inning when Enzo Apodaca delivered an RBI single.
Glacier answered in the second, taking a 4-1 lead. Tommy Rover singled home two runs, and a Missoula error brought in two more. The Range Riders later extended the lead to 5-1 before the PaddleHeads began chipping away.
The turning point came in the top of the eighth. Missoula plated five runs on three hits to seize a 6-5 lead, with Ty Yukumoto delivering the biggest hit of the inning — a two-run single after a six-pitch at-bat.
Mark Timmins earned the win for the PaddleHeads, allowing one run over 1.2 innings. Matthew Taubensee recorded the save. Jack Maruskin took the loss for Glacier after surrendering three runs in one-third of an inning.
Range Riders starter Zach Longshore was excellent through six innings, allowing one run on seven hits while striking out four and walking two. Missoula starter Brendan Beard gave up four runs (two earned) on five hits over 5.1 innings, striking out 10.
