Fernandes Collects Four Hits as Range Riders Defeat RedPocket Mobiles, 9-4
KALISPELL, Mont. - Alex Fernandes collected four hits as the Glacier Range Riders defeated the RedPocket Mobiles, 9-4, on Friday at Glacier Bank Park.
Fernandes finished 4-for-5 with a double, triple, two singles and two stolen bases. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the second, tripled in the sixth and added another single in the eighth.
Jordan Harrison-Dudley opened the scoring with a solo home run to left field in the top of the first inning, but the Range Riders tied the game in the bottom half when a RedPocket error allowed a run to score.
Glacier moved in front in the second inning. Jacob Steele delivered a two-run double to give the Range Riders a 3-1 lead, and Kyle Ashworth followed with an RBI groundout to extend the advantage to three runs.
The RedPocket Mobiles pulled even at 4-4 in the top of the fifth inning, with Justin Johnson's home run to center field providing the tying runs.
Glacier immediately reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Donovan Ratfield's RBI groundout brought home the go-ahead run. The Range Riders added four more runs over the next three innings to pull away.
Lance Wade earned the win after allowing one hit over two scoreless innings. He struck out one and walked two. Chris Canada started for Glacier and allowed two runs on four hits over four innings, striking out six and walking three. Jack Murashkin added a scoreless inning of relief, allowing no hits while striking out one.
Ren Arias took the loss for RedPocket after surrendering seven runs, five earned, on eight hits over five and one-third innings. He struck out two and walked two.
The Range Riders finished with 13 hits. Steele went 2-for-4 and drove in a team-high three runs from the ninth spot in the lineup. JD McLaughlin and Brock Vradenburg also recorded multiple hits.
Glacier was aggressive on the bases throughout the game, stealing seven bases. Fernandes and McLaughlin each recorded multiple steals.
