Range Riders Hold Off RedPocket Mobiles for 7-5 Victory
KALISPELL, MT. - The Glacier Range Riders saw their five-run lead shrink late but held off RedPocket Mobiles for a 7-5 victory Sunday at Glacier Bank Park.
RedPocket opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when Braylon Bishop launched a solo home run to center field.
The Range Riders answered immediately in the bottom half as Tommy Rover homered to right field, tying the game at 1-1.
A sacrifice fly from Jacob Steele gave Glacier its first lead, 2-1, in the second inning. The Range Riders added two more runs in the third when Drew Collins delivered a single to center field.
Glacier eventually extended its advantage to five runs before RedPocket mounted a late comeback. Bishop hit his second solo home run of the game in the eighth inning, and the Mobiles added three runs in the ninth on a groundout and another solo homer. The Range Riders stopped the rally before RedPocket could complete the comeback.
Zach Longshore earned the victory after allowing two runs on four hits across six innings. He struck out seven and did not issue a walk. Adam Christopher took the loss for RedPocket, surrendering six runs on seven hits over six innings while striking out two and walking one.
Jack Maruskin and Alex Bustamante each appeared in relief for Glacier.
Collins finished 2-for-4 and led the Range Riders with four RBIs. Walker Zampella also recorded two hits, while Alex Fernandes stole two bases. Glacier was aggressive throughout the game, totaling five stolen bases.
RedPocket collected nine hits. Bishop and Jonathan Smith each finished with two, while Bishop went 2-for-4 with two home runs, two runs scored and two RBIs.
The Range Riders will now begin a six-game series against the Ogden Raptors, with all six games being played at Glacier Bank Park. Glacier is still technically alive in the race to finish as one of the Pioneer League's top two teams during the first half and clinch a playoff spot.
