Steele’s Second Grand Slam Powers Range Riders Past Raptors, 10-3
KALISPELL, Mont. - Jacob Steele launched his second grand slam of the season Wednesday night, helping lead the Glacier Range Riders to a 10-3 victory over the Ogden Raptors at Glacier Bank Park.
Steele finished with four RBIs on two hits as Glacier collected 13 hits and drew seven walks in the victory.
The Range Riders opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when Logan Beard delivered an RBI single. Glacier extended its lead to 3-0 an inning later when Carson Garner blasted a two-run home run to center field.
Ogden got on the board in the top of the fifth when Cole Jordan hit a solo homer to left field, but Glacier quickly broke the game open in the bottom half of the inning.
The Range Riders scored five runs on four hits in the frame. Garner drew a bases-loaded walk before Steele hammered a grand slam over the left-field wall, giving Glacier an 8-1 advantage.
Colson Lawrence added a solo home run for Ogden in the seventh, but Beard answered in the bottom of the inning with a solo shot of his own to left field.
Chris Canada earned the win in relief for Glacier, allowing one run on two hits over three innings. He struck out six and did not issue a walk.
Cole Cressend started for the Range Riders and pitched three scoreless innings, surrendering two hits while striking out three and walking one. Jacob Hasty added one and one-third scoreless innings out of the bullpen, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Ogden starter Chase Chatman took the loss after allowing eight runs on 10 hits and four walks over four and one-third innings.
Donovan Ratfield led Glacier's offense with three hits in five at-bats. Beard, JD McLaughlin and Kyle Ashworth also recorded multiple hits, while McLaughlin and Ashworth each drew two walks.
The Range Riders and the Raptors face off again on Thursday night, with first pitch set for 6:35 PM at Glacier Bank Park.
