Clarkson's Multi-Hit Game, Schafer's Solid Start, Leads to First Range Rider Win in Oakland
OAKLAND, CA. - TJ Clarkson went 3-for-5 with a solo home run to help lead the Glacier Range Riders to a 5-2 victory over the Oakland Ballers on Thursday at Raimondi Park.
Glacier jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Logan Beard opened the scoring with a two-run homer to left field. Jack Lynch followed with an RBI single, and Kyle Ashworth added another run with a single of his own to make it 4-0.
Clarkson added to the lead in the fourth with a solo shot to right field, his third hit of the game.
Starting pitcher Luke Schafer earned the win, tossing 7.2 innings and allowing just two runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking one. Jason Franks recorded the save. Oakland's Zach St. Pierre was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs on nine hits over 6.1 innings, striking out six and walking three.
The Range Riders collected 10 hits on the day. Beard went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, while Ashworth and Xavier Casserilla each had multiple hits. Defensively, Glacier was flawless, committing no errors. Casserilla led the team with 12 chances in the field.
Oakland totaled nine hits, with Daniel Harris IV going 3-for-4 and Davis Drewek adding two more. Cam Bufford drove in the Ballers' only RBI. Oakland also played clean defense, with Tyler Lozano handling a team-high 10 chances.
The two teams will match up again tonight at 7:35 PM Mountain Time at Raimondi Park.
